Ashland’s boys basketball team has gotten off to a slow start this season; the young team lost their home opener on Friday, December 1, to the Sandusky Blue Streaks with a final score of 65 to 54. The Arrows got off to an early lead after the opening tip, but quickly gave it up, making it their only lead of the game. The Blue Streaks went on to build a 14-2 lead, going on a 14-point run right out of the gate.

Despite the slow start, the Arrows managed to keep their heads above water and stayed in contention throughout much of the game. Even with being down 16-points in the third quarter, the Arrows were able to bring the lead down to just three points with 1:37 left.

Nearing the end of the fourth quarter, the Arrows got the lead down to just five off a steal by Mitchell H.(10). Despite pressure from the Arrows, the Blue Streaks remained calm and collected, closing out the game with a 8-2 run, leaving the score 65-54.

For Ashland, Manny L.(12) contributed 10-points and nine rebounds, Kamrin K.(12) added 12 points, and Garret D.(11) finished with a team-high of 15-points.
